I was up on the KU Campus for a College Senior Session today. Before she arrived I had some time so I decided to take some shots of the new bronze Jayhawks that were just installed.
There are six statues, one for every iteration of the mythical bird. The statues were crafted by Kansas City, Kan., sculptor Robin Richerson.Richerson has been an artist since he graduated an art degree and has been working with bronze statues for the past 20 years. The family-owned-and-operated company’s mission is to immortalize treasured icons.
They are really quite fantastic, especially if you are an alumni. It’s going to be a lovely weekend in LFK which will be perfect for exploring campus. RCJH! ❤️💙❤️
“This is a great opportunity for me,” Richerson said. “I think about all the photographs that graduates and people coming to the University for the first time and just all the people that’ll take photographs there with the Campanile in the background — it’s very significant.”
This space is all about photography. Sessions, gear, my photo journeys and me living my best photog life.
