Today I had the opportunity to check out the progress on the new Black Stag Brewery which is set to open this Spring. Among the organized chaos you can see this unique space taking shape. It’s clear that they have paid attention to every little detail from the ceiling to the floor. Owner John Hampton explained to me the importance of recycling was to the building process. Everything from the amazing 100 year old barn wood beams, the 50 pounds of nails taken out of palettes to the bar which has reclaimed wood from the Baker Wetlands, you can see this is a labor of love. I hope you enjoy this little sneak peek and I can’t wait to see the finished space.
The love of Lawrence, of brewing beer and of good food developed a passion for home town hospitality in our founders. Opening a brewery and restaurant in the heart of Downtown Lawrence was a merging of family ideals, passion, experience and timing.
