At the end of the year I like to reflect on my business. What was successful and what was absolutely not. I find it’s a really good way to wrap up the year in my photography business. I also like to plan my personal photo projects for the next year.
Having a couple of personal projects for the year keeps me engaged with my creative side. For a few years doing a 365 photo project was just what I needed. Last year I wanted to focus more on my fine art painting and I held two shows of my work at my studio in lovely downtown Lawrence. This year I want to go BIG. I have wanted to go on a trip withThe Giving Lens for a few years and I believe this is the time for me to have this experience.
We are a community of photographers who give back around the World. We do so by running one-of-a-kind international travel photography workshops, with a humanitarian twist: during the trip, we volunteer part of our time and photographic talents to a local grassroots NGO by documenting their work and teaching photography to the community as a tool for empowerment, self-expression, and storytelling. Post-trip we donate back images, and share our profits. We believe photography is a valuable, accessible, important tool for NGOs and their communities, and we believe it can change the world.
I would like to also shoot another project but I’m not quite sure what that should be, This week I am going to watch this FREE course from Creative Live that is all about personal projects and hopefully I will get some ideas. I love taking classes with Creative Live. Their classes are full of valuable, actionable information. I have acquired so many skills to run my business by watching their presentations. You definitely want to check them out.
i will be posting more about my projects as I figure them out. If you happen to start your own project in 2020 I would love to hear about it and support you.
This space is all about photography. Sessions, gear, my photo journeys and me living my best photog life.
